The Hospitalet City Council increases the IBI by 3%

The Hospitalet de Llobregat City Council has decided to increase the IBI rate by 3%, it has reported in a statement. They argue the rise in being able to "guarantee the provision of social rights and services to people."

The municipal plenary session has approved the tax ordinances and rates for the year 2024 with votes in favor of the PSC government and ERC, in the opposition. The common people have abstained and the PP and Vox have voted against.

According to the City Council, this growth in the IBI will be "less than 20 euros per year for 90% of the homes in the city." The tax is increased by 5% for hotels, shopping centers and other uses with high cadastral value.

On the other hand, the bonuses to pay the IBI for large families, officially protected housing, installation of solar energy systems and social rental housing are maintained. In addition, a new 25% bonus is added for homes intended for limited-income rentals that have an official protection rating and are owned by a public administration, related or dependent agency or entity.

Finally, the City Council explains that the tax on mechanically powered vehicles, the tax on economic activities and the tax on construction and works maintain the tax rate.
