The historic Bar Brusi del Gótico will return in the form of an exhibition

Bar Brusi, a historic Gothic bar that closed last year due to not being able to adapt to strict health measures, will return. But it will not do so in the premises it occupied, which will become an Italian ice cream parlor, but in a museum exhibition.

The Museum of History of Barcelona (MUHBA) has rescued part of the furniture of this establishment that had more than half a century of history, such as the stools, the tables, the entrance sign and even a piece of the bar. With these elements, he will organize an exhibition at the Fàbrica de Creació Fabra i Coat, which is estimated to open at the end of the year.

The selection of furniture and other identifying objects of the business, which have been moved to the Fabra i Coats premises, has been extended for several weeks with the aim of achieving a faithful reproduction of Bar Brusi. The sample resulting from these tasks will be part of the Museu del Treball, Joan Roca, director of the MUHBA, explained to Betevé, a project that wants to put work, from work done in factories and hospitals to domestic work, at the center.

After its closure in April last year, the exhibition organizers asked the bar's owners, Montserrat Sabadell and her son Josep Sans, not to get rid of anything. When they told them that they wanted to recover the space in a museum to reclaim it, the owners did not object and gave the pieces altruistically.

The tobacco machine, the handle and the cutlery are other elements that the museum has kept, taking advantage of the remodeling of the establishment at number 23 on Llibreteria Street, which will occupy one of the ice cream parlors of the Italian chain Elisa, with several premises in the city center.

The exhibition will take the visitor to this seventies bar, whose decoration, furniture and other identifying objects seemed like they would disappear with it. The sorrow? His cuisine will not return, although the museum assures that at the inauguration of the space you will be able to try his famous tripe.
