The High Commissioner recognizes the work of Isidro Fainé in the fight against child poverty

The National Music Auditorium yesterday hosted the Rompe el Círculo Awards ceremony, created by the High Commissioner against child poverty and which this year held its second edition, a meeting in which the main national references in the fight against child poverty and in favor of the rights of children and adolescents. The president of the 'La Caixa' Foundation, Isidro Fainé, was one of the winners.

The day was inaugurated by the children's choir from the CEIP Gonzalo Fernández de Córdoba to give way to the high commissioner, Ernesto Gasco, who wanted to highlight the excellent work of the different public administrations, companies and entities that work on children in Spain: "In At this gala we will award many prizes because, luckily, we live in a country where many people and institutions work for this cause".

The Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, presented the first award of the night, the Special Jury Prize, to the Ermua City Council for its strategy to combat child poverty through education, culture and technology. During the gala, a second Special Jury Prize was awarded, created ex aequo for the Ampara Association, an entity dedicated to improving the lives of the sons and daughters of inmates who grow up in prisons in the Community of Madrid together with their mothers.

The Award for the best corporate initiative was received by Radio Televisión Española and was collected by its president, Elena Sánchez. With this award we wanted to recognize the work of RTVE during the pandemic.

The work of the social entities was also recognized with the Award for the best social initiative received by the Educo Foundation, for its integration program of the school canteen as part of the educational project and learning space; and the Balia Foundation, for its fight against early educational dropout through educational reinforcement in non-school periods.

The Award for the best initiative for the development of healthy lifestyles was also shared, in this case by the Eusebio Sacristán Foundation, for its Inclusive Sports School; and Fútbol Más, Fundación Real Betis Balompié and CEAR, for their Sport for Refuge project with boys and girls in vulnerable environments.

During the gala, the Prize for academic innovation was also awarded, received by Save the Children for its report The Children's Guarantee for Examination. Situation of vulnerable children participating in Save the Children programs and their families; the Prize for the best cultural initiative, awarded to the Social Music Network and the Prize for the best initiative promoted by children under 18 years of age, for the Children's Participation Team for the Change of the Children's Platform.

The gala also wanted to highlight the personal commitment of two personalities linked to the fight against child poverty from both the institutional and corporate spheres: Gustavo Suárez Pertierra, president of Unicef ​​Spain, and Isidro Fainé, president of the "la Caixa" Foundation. .

The gala, presented by the journalist Marta Solano and produced and broadcast by Radio Televisión Española, was attended by the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, and the former Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto.
