The great ray of sunshine on Calella beach

In La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos we can see a great ray of morning sun on Calella beach, in Alt Maresme, between Sant Pol de Mar and Pineda de Mar.

This coastal town is also known by the name Calella de la Costa to differentiate it from the seafaring town of Calella de Palafrugell, in the Baix Empordà region.

In the 1970s and until the mid-1990s, Calella was a very important tourist destination in the Maresme for Central European tourism (especially German, Dutch, Danish, English and French), being popularly known as "Calella de los Alemanes". ".

Its population triples during the high tourist season, although on this occasion the photograph conveys a relaxing image of a Calella beach only occupied by the picturesque boats and crossed by the great ray of sunlight.

Calella has about three kilometers of beach and more than 180,000 square meters of sand in the 8 square kilometers that the municipal area covers.
