The Government will give instructions in "three weeks" to restrict cell phones in schools

Councilor Anna Simó has stressed the Government's position not to ban mobile phones in schools, but to restrict them. Along those lines, marked by the president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, in an interview with La Vanguardia, Simó has indicated in the program 'Via Lliure' of Rac1 that the department will give instructions to the centers in "maximum three weeks".

According to the counselor, the indications "will go along these lines and then each center will have to make decisions." These decisions, she points out, should be made not before they are debated by families, the faculty and the School Council. The councilor insists: "A vertical restriction does not make sense if it is not based on a prior debate."

Simó assures that in September, with the start of the course, the use of mobile phones will be regulated in all institutes. According to this open criterion, it may happen that in one institute cell phones are prohibited and in the one next door they are allowed. In fact, there are centers that already restrict the use of telephones.

Where there is a veto without nuances is in primary school. The councilor explained a month ago in Vía libre that "primary school must be a space free of mobile phones" and she defended that there be an "absolute restriction."
