The first vice president of the Government, María Jesús Montero, has demanded that the PP explain whether its spokesperson, Miguel Tellado, met with members of the Koldo case - the alleged corruption plot regarding the collection of illegal commissions in the purchase and sale of masks in the pandemic - and to clarify who in the "this Alberto" who appears in the case summary as the facilitator of this meeting.
"The Popular Party must explain whether Mr. Tellado - the PP's parliamentary spokesperson in Congress - really met with these businessmen and Mr. Koldo to find out what they talked about and what type of negotiations they carried out," he insisted.
To questions from journalists, the deputy general secretary of the PSOE added: “Today the PP has to give many explanations as to why Mr. Tellado's name appears there, what his intermediation role was, what meeting they had planned in Genoa. and who is a certain Alberto who is also mentioned and who acts as the intermediary or as the contact on Génova Street,” Montero told journalists in the halls of Congress.
The Minister of Finance has been very forceful in statements made in the halls of Congress from where she has rejected "lessons from the PP" by disgracing her for having seized on the Koldo case to attack the Government.
Montero has also shielded the actions of the PSOE in the Koldo case, brandishing "absolute collaboration with justice. In the face of destroying evidence, what the PSOE does is send all the documentation that may be of interest to the judicial authority investigating it." "We have also asked for political responsibilities and we have requested the resignation of Mr. [José Luis] Ábalos as a deputy, who does not have any type of criminal accusation (...). And thirdly, we have promoted here in this Congress a commission of investigation so that everything that may be related to this issue is clarified, from the peace of mind that we have nothing to hide", the Minister of Finance has defended in contrast to what, she assures, the PP usually does.
