The frustrating deceptive clouds without rain

At the time of capturing these images for Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia there was a stormy sky in the vicinity of the Puig-agut sanctuary, in Manlleu (Osona), but not a single drop had fallen.

These are, then, the frustrating deceptive clouds without rain, those that throughout this winter have seemed to announce precipitation to alleviate the drought, but in reality they have only appeared in the sky without releasing any water.

Low clouds are divided into four categories: cumulus, stratus, cumulonimbus, and stratocumulus. What are rain clouds? Altostratus, for example, can herald a storm, while nimbostratus are thick and dark, they can give rise to both rain and snow.

But the truth is that a lot of cloud but little rain. In this case, they take over the sky around the Puig-agut sanctuary, in a rural environment.

The Puig-agut sanctuary was the first temple of its kind in Spain to be dedicated to the Sacred Heart. Its construction was promoted at the end of the 19th century by Ramón Madirolas y Codina, an innovative farmer who promoted it from the Faro de Puig-agut magazine. The direction of the work was carried out by the architect August Font y Carreras, who used a neo-Gothic style with some Romanesque and even neoclassical facets, inspired by the French basilica of Tarbes.
