The former socialist mayor, Anna Pagans, supports the candidacy linked to the CUP of Girona

The one who was mayor of Girona between 2002 and 2011 for the PSC, Anna Pagans, will support Guanyem's municipal candidacy in the next municipal elections, led by Lluc Salellas. Under this citizen platform are political parties such as the CUP or MES as well as neighborhood or social entities.

Retired from the political scene since 2011 (months before she had announced that she would not run for re-election), who was the first female mayor of the city of Girona, who always went on the lists as an independent, had since then maintained a very discreet profile in city politics. Until today.

His number appears among the signatories of a manifesto entitled 'We win the change that Girona deserves', which bets because it is the list of Lluc Salellas who "starts a new political cycle" in the city.

The document explains that "Girona is an aimless city (...) that lives with its back to the people, encased in a set (...) without ambition and without a vision for the future" and that "a script twist, a calm and inevitable change"

The signatories understand that Guanyem, which has been the main opposition force in the last four years (it has six councilors, the same as the PSC but won in number of votes), "must assert its work as the second force in the Consistory to take a decisive step forward, that of governing...". Junts is currently doing it, a formation that won the last elections, in coalition with ERC.

A hundred people from different areas and political sensitivities have signed, like Pagans, this manifesto that was presented this afternoon in the Municipal Theater of Girona. It includes prominent figures such as the poet Narcís Comadira, the lawyer Benet Salellas (brother of Guanyem's list leader), the writer Josep Maria Fonalleras, the chef Lluc Quinana, of the Can Xapes restaurant, the archaeologist Eudald Carbonell, the architect Arcadi Plan or the philosopher Íngrid Guardiola.

They also support the candidacy headed by Salellas ex-concejales of CiU in the Consistory, like Montse Soler; from ICV, such as Enric Pardo, from ERC, such as Pilar Prats and several numbers who were on the PSC list such as university professor Àngel Quintana; the retired teacher Victòria Saget, or the former director of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) in Girona, Amèlia Barbero.

Ex-councillors and councilors of the CUP such as Jordi Navarro or Anna Pujolàs, deputies of the pro-independence formation such as the lawyer Montserrat Vinyets, a neighbor of the Sant Daniel neighborhood, have also made public their support for Guanyem Girona.

Outside of politics, the signatories also include the communicator and presenter of La Sotana, Andreu Juanola; the former coach and basketball player and current vice president of Uni Girona, Noe Jordana; the businessman David Martí, the activist for the rights of people with disabilities, Teresa Palahí; the bookseller Guillem Terribas or the Sahrawi lawyer and activist, Wahba Ahmed, among others.

During the event, the mayor of Guanyem, Lluc Salellas, thanked the people who have signed the manifesto for their presence and highlighted the "enormous plurality of sensitivities that have come together to promote the change that Girona deserves".
