The president of the works council of Ford Almussafes, Carlos Faubel, and representative of UGT-PV in the factory, traveled yesterday to Germany to meet with the management of the company. There has been, for days now, a concern in the Valencian plant about the times, slow in his opinion, that the car company is taking to make the electrification of Almussafes effective, now immersed in an ERE.
Deadlines are key, they insist, both because of European aid, which sets the 2026 target, and because of the multinational's own goals in terms of its commitment to zero emissions with a range of 100% electric passenger vehicles by 2030. Automotística argued that participating in the first Part introduced "a delay" in its production plans for Spain, and that it would not take advantage of the financing program, so the factory has doubts as to whether it will change its position with respect to the second call, scheduled for next July.
That is why a few days ago the union asked the company to be clear about the investments that must be made. Now, they go a step further and go directly to the European management because they expect "answers and solutions" to a situation that they consider a "delay" in the future plans for the firm in Valencia.
Although the company communicated a year ago that Valencia was the production center chosen for electrification, it did not specify its times. He spoke of producing innovative electric and connected vehicles from the Valencia plant "in this decade", but did not specify when. In the recent eMobility in Valencia, the president of Ford Spain also avoided giving more details. "We have big plans for Valencia, the next generation of electric cars will be made there, but we have to prepare for the future," defended Jesús Alonso. These days the management of the company also prefers not to pronounce itself.
