The first major 'trans' fallera normalizes diversity in the traditions of Valencia

The Manuel Candela-Avenida del Puerto falla commission will be known these Fallas 2024 as the first commission to have a transsexual major fallera. The news, which the newspaper Levante-EMV reported this Wednesday, represents another step in the normalization of the group in one of the most representative festivals of the Valencian Community and especially of Valencia. After counting last year with the first major fallero, who reigned in the Borrull-Socors commission, the fallera Lía Sánchez makes history by becoming the highest representative of her commission.

The appointment of the young woman took place last Friday at the commission's house, a fact that the commission shared on its social networks with a photo of the new honor roll, made up of its eldest fallera, its children's president, Iker Peña, and two presidents, Andrea Barrachina and María Toledo.
