The fire in El Saler is stabilized after an intense night of work by firefighters

As of 6:49 in the morning today, Sunday, October 22, the Saler forest fire has been stabilized, according to sources reported by the Emergency Coordination Center of the Generalitat Valenciana.

Firefighters have spent the entire night working in the forest fire area. And they still continue to do so. Specifically, seven teams from the Valencia City Council and six from the provincial consortium, supported by an amphibious plane, continue their work to protect the natural park from the flames.

The fire started after 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. The town hall firefighters mobilized their Advanced Command Post to locate it in the El Saler fire station.

The fire, which generated a dense column of smoke visible from kilometers away, forced traffic to be cut off in both directions on the CV-500, specifically, from kilometer 8.5 to kilometer 15, according to sources from the Management Center. of Traffic of the DGT.

This is the second fire to affect the area in recent hours and adds to those that have occurred in recent months in the Devesa-Albufera area. In fact, in the early hours of this Friday to Saturday there was a fire outbreak that only burned around five square meters because it was quickly put out.

The councilor responsible for Devesa-Albufera, José Gosálbez, -appointed this Friday after the entry of Vox into the municipal government-, has reiterated the need to "make contact with his new powers", although he pointed out that the preliminary reports he has on the table "does not leave in a good place what was already known: eight years of disastrous management by communists and socialists."

"We have to look to the future, the past is there to avoid making the mistakes of others and be clear that this is a new government that arrives with an enormous desire to recover Valencia and put, in my case, order to this disorder," he declared.

For his part, the councilor delegate of the Local Police of Valencia, Jesús Carbonell, who visited the Command Post late in the afternoon, asked about the possible search for one or more arsonists who had deliberately caused the fire, has responded that this situation is "the subject of investigation" and refused to "speak on that topic."
