In The Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia we witness an endearing scene of complicity between a shepherd and his dog while the flock searches for food in some fields that ask for rain, around the Puig-agut sanctuary, in Manlleu, region of Osona.
In the photographs we see how the shepherd and the dog greet each other and how it seems that the animal receives caresses of gratitude and recognition for the work of helping him lead the flock.
The fields of Manlleu bear, as in other areas of Catalonia, the consequences of many months of drought, with less rain than usual. It is expected that tomorrow, for Epiphany night, the gift will be that it will rain, at least, that is the forecast.
In the photographs we can see how the cattle try to find the greenest area of the meadows, hoping to put something in their mouths and stomachs.
All of this around the splendid sanctuary of Puig-agut, very photogenic. This was the first temple of its kind in Spain to be dedicated to the Sacred Heart. Its construction was promoted at the end of the 19th century by Ramón Madirolas y Codina, an innovative farmer who promoted it from the Faro de Puig-agut magazine.
The direction of the work was carried out by the architect August Font y Carreras, who used a neo-Gothic style with some Romanesque and even neoclassical facets, inspired by the French basilica of Tarbes.
