At the end of February, the Mossos arrested 12 people linked to a gang dedicated to the production and sale of marijuana with its epicenter in El Prat de Llobregat (Barcelona), in an operation in which 860 marijuana plants and 7.8 kilos of marijuana buds, in addition to 9.1 kilos of cocaine, 18,460 euros and handmade firearms in a workshop.
According to what the Mossos d'Esquadra reported this Tuesday, in this police operation six marijuana plantations were dismantled and the total value of the drugs seized would have a value in the illicit market of more than 500,000 euros.
The investigation began in March 2023, following an entry and search of a home in El Prat by court order, given indications of the existence of a marijuana plantation inside. In that house, where a man and a woman lived with their four minor children, the Mossos located 103 marijuana plants as well as the necessary tools for an indoor plantation, such as extractors, air conditioners, filters or lamps, among them. other utensils, and also a short firearm.
Subsequent investigations made it possible to determine that the man was part of a criminal organization dedicated to drug trafficking, which operated in El Prat de Llobregat. With these indications, other judicial measures were agreed upon to investigate the details of this criminal gang, such as its composition, its scope or the structure of the gang.
During the months that the investigation lasted, the Mossos identified eight active members of the organization as well as several collaborators, and located other addresses where marijuana was being produced.
The final operation of the case took place on February 29, with a police device in which ten simultaneous entries and searches were carried out at homes in El Prat de Llobregat, Sant Adrià del Besòs and Tarragona, in which a joint team of investigation by the Mossos together with the Local Police of the Prat and ARRO and BRIMO agents.
In this police device, the Mossos arrested 12 people between the ages of 20 and 52, and dismantled six marijuana plantations.
