The doorman of the Tótem de Villava/Atarrabia nightclub, injured on Saturday while mediating a brawl, died during the early hours of this Wednesday. Carlos Amorín Lamas, 42, had remained in a coma since Sunday, as a result of the serious brain injuries he suffered after being punched. The alleged perpetrator of the brutal attack was sent to prison on Wednesday; He was initially charged with attempted homicide, which will become completed homicide after Amorín's death.
The events that led to the death of the doorman of this well-known nightclub, very close to Pamplona, occurred during the early hours of Saturday to Sunday, shortly before 5:00 a.m. The deceased tried to mediate a fight and that was when he received a punch from which he fell to the ground. Carlos Amorín was left lying on the ground, unconscious, and was initially treated by agents of the Villava Municipal Police, until the arrival of medical personnel.
At the hospital, they discovered that he suffered from multiple injuries to his skull and brain, which is why he underwent emergency surgery. The paramedics, however, could not do anything given the magnitude of the injuries.
Meanwhile, the Regional Police arrested two people for the events that occurred at the entrance of the Tótem-Dalí nightclub. One of them, Christian Camilo Monsalve, 27, was sent to prison after passing through the Investigative Court number 5 of Pamplona.
The detainee acknowledged having been the author of the punch to Amorín, although he indicated that it was in self-defense, although the judge stated in his resolution that these were “merely exculpatory” statements, since “there is no indication of what was stated in the statements recorded in the report or in the recordings of the incident.”
Likewise, after collecting images from security cameras and statements from witnesses, it decided to send him to prison, also alluding to a high risk of escape due to his irregular situation in Spain and his strong roots in his country of origin (Colombia).
Carlos Amorín was a native of León and arrived when he was 20 years old in Navarra, to the Aizoain barracks, according to Diario de Noticias. After five years as a soldier, he worked as a bodyguard for several years. Currently, he worked as an Adif employee, although on some weekends he worked as a doorman at different nightlife venues.
Amorín founded Asforp (Foral Association of Goalkeepers) to promote the professionalization of the sector and favor the approval of regulations that regulate this profession.
