The curious town of Montfalcó Murallat

I walked through the center of Montfalcó Murallat, located in the municipality of Les Oluges, in the region of Segarra, located on both sides of the high valley on the banks of the river Sió.

As we see in this photographic report in La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos, it is a town of medieval origin protected by walls, which is located on the top of a hill.

Precisely, a wall in good condition welcomes us to this place through its only entrance. Once inside, we can see arcaded streets, the cistern and the communal oven, as well as the Gothic style church of Sant Pere de Montfalcó.

The communal cistern, to this day, still stores the water of this town. A curiosity is that, although it does have a restaurant and two rural tourism houses, only two people live all year round in Montfalcó Murallat.

In addition to its wall, few inhabitants and beautiful landscapes, this town also has a legend, which has to do with the people who live in this place, the bread and a siege that bore no fruit.

So if you are interested in legends, this one is very interesting, short and with a happy ending. To know more details, you have nothing left but to visit and enjoy this small town of La Segarra.
