The seven people who remained hospitalized this Tuesday, as a result of the injuries suffered in the accident of a bus on Monday on the highway of the Lakes of Covadonga, are evolving favorably, according to the Asturian Government. The accident apparently occurred when the bus came across another vehicle – a motorhome, according to some sources – and left the road until it lost stability and took two turns downhill. There were six serious injuries, another six less serious and 37 minor. Among the 48 passengers, in addition to the driver, there were ten children between eight months and 13 years of age, although none of them suffered serious injuries.
The Civil Guard investigates the facts. Aguilera pointed out that the average width of this mountain road is 5.35 m, although there are parts where it is not so narrow, for example in viewpoint areas, where a greater width is usually used for the crossing of large vehicles. size. Due to the high influx of visitors, in summer the circulation of private vehicles is limited, and taxi drivers and bus drivers are "accustomed to driving", as evidenced by the fact that every day there are "hundreds of maneuvers" for the crossing of vehicles without mishaps, said Aguilar.
