The Council of Ministers will approve "shortly" the expansion of the port of Valencia

The representative of the Government in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, has assured in the morning news program of the autonomous television À Punt that the new Council of Ministers will give the green light to the expansion of the port of Valencia soon.

Bernabé explained that the Ministry of Ecological Transition considers that the Environmental Impact Statement (DIA) approved in 2007 does not need to be updated. "The DIA is there and the Ministry considers that this impact statement is valid. Therefore, it will now be submitted to the Council of Ministers," he assured.

The delegate has insisted that the Spanish government has always maintained the same position, and considers that the development of the port is an "essential and necessary" issue for the infrastructure to be competitive.

For this reason, Bernabé asks that the issue "stop being used in the political conflict", because keeping this debate open "does not benefit anyone", but rather "harms the Port, since it puts an infrastructure that competes with everything in the media spotlight. the world".

In his opinion, the port of Valencia will be one of the most sustainable ports in Europe in the coming decades and with the greatest workload against the carbon footprint. "We all agree that the development of the Port is necessary, essential, and that it has to comply with all the environmental issues on which the Port works."
