The coordinator of the commons Jéssica Albiach renounces her militancy in Podemos

"Without making noise" the coordinator of Catalunya en Comú and president of the parliamentary group of the commons in the Parliament, Jéssica Albiach, has resigned from Podemos, where she had been active since she began her political activity, as confirmed by sources from Catalunya en Comú .

This is a "logical" step, according to the same sources, after Podemos decided to reinforce its autonomy with respect to Sumar, with a new political roadmap and, finally, with the break with Yolanda Díaz's space in Congress. where the five Podemos deputies in Congress will finally go to the Mixed Group.

Albiach's dismissal, demanded by the leaders of Podem Catalunya after the approval of this new roadmap that, among other things, prohibits double militancy, occurred a week ago. The prohibition of double militancy made it impossible for the parliamentary leader to be able to make the Podemos and the Commons cards compatible.

According to the leader of Podem Catalunya, Conchi Abellán, in an interview in El Periódico, it was Albiach herself who requested the resignation and let her know by phone, regretting that Podemos has reached this extreme in its fight with Sumar.

For their part, the commoners remember that Albiach helped promote the Podemos brand in Catalonia and has always opted for understanding with Catalunya en Comú, which had its zenith in the last municipal elections, when they left behind the competition they fought four years before. in fifty Catalan municipalities.

The new national strategy of Podemos and, consequently, the drift of the leadership of Podem Catalunya, which has separated the leaders of the leadership critical of the strategy of breaking up the coalition that they set out from Madrid, has precipitated Albiach's decision.

In this sense, it is worth remembering that 13 of the 25 members of the management of Podem Catalunya submitted their resignation last month upon learning that the executive led by Abellán had initiated an expulsion file and the precautionary suspension of militancy for having bet on for the agreement with Sumar, when a joint candidacy for the 23-J elections was still being debated.

As a consequence of that resignation en bloc, Podem's management decided to reorganize itself through a management company run by themselves. One of the resignations regrets that the Abellán management "has dissolved the management of Podem, and has appointed himself in charge of the management company."

Relations between Podem and Catalunya en Comú are going through a serious crisis as a consequence of these events, to the point that, as Abellán points out in the aforementioned interview, joint participation in the next Catalan elections is not guaranteed.
