The president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Ximo Puig, has announced that the Consell will extend the discount on the rates of transport dependent on the Generalitat to 50% for the entire first semester of 2023, so that it will apply an additional discount of 20% to the 30% announced by the State, and will also approve in plenary this Friday the extension of the 10% reduction in public rates and prices, as well as the suspension of the collection of the sanitation fee.
The president held a working meeting on measures to promote public transport with the Regional Minister for Territorial Policy, Public Works and Mobility, Rebeca Torró, and the regional secretary for Public Works, Transport and Sustainable Mobility, María Pérez.
After the meeting, the president announced that in 2023 the Metrovalencia network will be reinforced with actions that represent an investment of 67 million euros. In this sense, he has confirmed that in the first quarter the layouts of L11 and L12 and the extension of L10 will be released to the public.
These projects consist of the extension of the L10, from Natzaret to the Marina de València and the Malva-rosa; and the commissioning of the new L11, which will connect the center with the seafront through the Grau neighbourhoods, and the new L12, which, with four new kilometers of track, will connect the center with the new Fe de Malilla , the reference hospital center in Valencia and the metropolitan area. Throughout the summer, the construction projects will be available, and in the second semester the drafting of the specifications for the bidding for the works will be carried out.
In addition, the Generalitat will apply in January 2023 the 50% reduction in season tickets and multi-trip tickets for regional transport.
Puig has indicated that "the Generalitat has been a pioneer in measures to facilitate access to public transport and in the fight against inflation", and in this regard he has referred to measures such as the extension of free public transport for young people up to 30 years of age until on July 31, 2023 and has also announced that the subsidy by the Generalitat of 50% of urban transport will be extended until that same date to guarantee free admission for young people under 30 years of age in all those municipalities that want to join this measure.
The 50% reduction will also apply to SUMA transport tickets, which integrate for the first time, in a single card and with the same price, the public transport of the metropolitan area of Valencia of the Metrovalencia, Metrobús, EMT and Renfe services -Surroundings.
Likewise, in Metrovalencia the 50% reduction will be applied to all TuiN tickets and temporary passes. Also in the own titles of the TRAM d'Alacant and the TRAM of Castelló.
