The sheriff of the Cáceres town of Hinojal has confessed that he strangled Vicente Sánchez, 79, who has been missing since last January and whose lifeless body was found last Friday on a farm located two kilometers from the Cáceres municipality.

The first examination of the data led investigators to specify the exact date of the victim's disappearance on January 22 of this year. After the interviews carried out with those closest to him, the agents detected contradictions in the statement of a local resident and friend of the missing person, who turns out to be the sheriff of the town hall.
This person, during the investigation period, "made the investigative work that fell on him enormously difficult, using the direct information he had from the victim's own family," reports the Civil Guard.
The investigation has been able to verify how the detained author was in a cafeteria with the victim on the same day of the disappearance. Just that day, the missing person had bought a round-trip bus ticket to Cáceres, to carry out different banking procedures and withdraw money from his accounts.
From that moment on, the victim's modus vivendi began to be investigated to trace the itineraries and customs in his private life and, as a result of these actions, it is known that, in addition to stealing the money he had just withdrawn from the bank, The detainee took his personal documentation and bank records, and hid the body in a remote area with difficult access.
Once the criminal action was carried out on the victim, the author carried out different banking operations and, once arrested and aware of the investigation that falls on him, "the man changes his attitude and shows collaboration with the agents and recognizes the authorship of the events ".
As a result of this confession, the lifeless body is found in the 'Arroyo del Fresno' area near the La Vaquera pond, belonging to the municipality of Hinojal.
Different studies of genetic profiles are being carried out on the body of Vicente Sánchez, obtained from the analysis of biological identification samples by the Criminalistics Service of the Civil Guard, as well as the performance of the autopsy by the Institute of Legal Medicine of Cáceres , leading to confirmation of death by strangulation.
The detainee was placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority during the morning of last Saturday, the 9th, based on the investigations carried out and the different indications provided, which led him to confess his responsibility in front of the judge, who ordered his immediate admission. in provisional detention, communicated and without bail, based on the investigations of the Criminal Investigation Section from the Crimes against Persons Area of the Organic Unit of the Judicial Police of Cáceres.
