The confessed murderer of rapper Isaac: "I ask for a fair sentence, not revenge"

"I ask for a sentence that is fair, not revenge." The young man accused of murdering rapper Isaac López, and who confessed to having stabbed him but without wanting to kill him, has once again asked for forgiveness from the family of the deceased due to the possibility of being sentenced to permanent prison that can be reviewed after a trial for sentencing.

Everything happened this Monday after concluding in the Provincial Court of Madrid the jury trial sessions against David Bárcena for the death of Isaac López, known as Little Kinki, on July 14, 2021 in the Commerce Street tunnel in the capital. .

In the next few hours the object of the verdict will be delivered to the jury so that its members can deliberate and give their verdict later.

The Prosecutor's Office and the private and popular accusations - exercised by the Spanish Committee of Representatives of People with Disabilities (Cermi) - ask for permanent, reviewable prison, while the defense requests that he be convicted of homicide.

In the right to use the last word, David Bárcena has asked for forgiveness from the victim's family, and especially from the mother, but also from his own family because he has also "destroyed" them.

"If you allow me, (I ask) to serve a sentence that is fair and not revenge. I promise to repair the damage I have done," he added.

Immediately afterwards, when they were taking him to the cells, he was rebuked by several friends of Isaac López, one of whom also rebuked the accused's father.

In her final argument, the prosecutor reminded the jury that the defendant's confession is not enough, but that evidence is needed to convict him, and she maintained that "it has been perfectly proven" that David Bárcena is guilty of murder with treachery and belonging. to band.

He has emphasized that Isaac López was stabbed in the lungs and aorta when he was defenseless, and then Bárcena was seen on the day of the burial near the cemetery, after which he continued with his normal activity, without confessing anything, until five months later. , when the police had already incriminated him.

Regarding the hate crime that the private and popular accusations request for the accused, the prosecutor has said that she does not consider it proven, since Isaac López was killed because they thought he was a member of the Trinitarios gang, not because he suffered from a disorder mental.

The prosecutor has denied that she has received any political instructions to defend permanent, reviewable prison.

The lawyer for the private prosecution, Juan Manuel Medina, has assured that with the request for permanent reviewable prison "the aim is not for revenge, but for justice" and "pedagogy", so that "there are no more Bárcenas or more Isaac."

He has denied that he is seeking an "exemplary" sentence, but a "fair" one that reflects what has been demonstrated in the trial: that Isaac was the victim of a malicious murder by Bárcena and other members of the DDP who also incurred a hate crime because the victim was a young man of special vulnerability, since he had an Asperger-type disorder for which he had a recognized disability of 46%.

It has been noted that up to ten witnesses recounted how Isaac López was chased and stabbed to the ground during "a hunt."

For all this, it does not consider any of the mitigating circumstances requested by the defense, explaining that this death falls within "a social problem" and that "neither one family nor the other is to blame, but the defendant is."

Cermi's lawyer has explained that they are a popular accusation in the trial because the victim suffered from a disability that "was palpable" and "the murder was motivated by this hatred of weak and different people."

Bárcena's lawyer, Álvaro Rojo, for his part, has defended that it was a homicide and that the story of the accusations is not proven, that they have made a "bestial effort" to link the murder with youth gangs and disability. of Isaac López, so they have asked the jury to be fair.
