The company La Simforosa reflects on the banality of today's world

Teatro Tantarantana hosts the graduation project of the new company La Simforosa, I have read and accept the terms of use, a reflection on the banality of the current world, the result of a collective creation directed by Israel Solà (La Calòrica).

In the show, a group of young people meet again to celebrate a birthday together and experience a series of daily situations "that enhance the superficiality of current social behavior from a frivolous and violent point," the company indicates.

Among these behaviors, the company La Simforosa indicates four: "Slavery, addiction to social networks, reality shows and bullfighting." And he raises it in a production that opens tomorrow, December 7, at the Tantarantana and that mixes different dramatic genres, with live songs and some choreography.

Adrià Masbernat, assistant director, gives some more details to La Vanguardia. "Israel Solà was their teacher and they chose the subject of banality. The action takes place at a dinner and the thing breaks and shit starts to come out."

Masbernat adds that this rupture precisely reveals the hidden face of social networks, "there are many problems behind it."

Among the four issues that the company mentions is slavery: "It is modern slavery, which now perhaps remains a very distant concept for us, but in an indirect way we all participate in processes of slavery with the clothes we buy, the sneakers, the gadgets electronics," he says.

Bullfighting also draws attention: As we talk about banality, we talk about high culture and banality, and we quickly ended up at the bulls. I think it's one of the most powerful moments of the show: is that really culture?"

With respect to Israel Solà's kinship with La Calòrica, Masbernat points out that the show is very different, but an intrinsic part of Solà does appear: "The intelligent acid humor, with an interpretation code proper to the Mediterranean".
