Civil Guard agents saved the life of a man who was drowning in a rice field in the district of Les Palmeretes (Sueca), after being alerted to the event by a farmer who was in the area.

The events occurred around 7:50 a.m. on October 8, when the farmer caught the attention of the agents who were in the area, reports the Civil Guard.

The agents found the man lying inside the field, with part of his upper trunk and head submerged in the water and convulsing.

After removing the man's head from the water and placing him in a safe position, the agents performed resuscitation on him to expel the water.

Finally, the man managed to open his eyes and throw water and mud, although he began to shake as a result of the beginning of hypothermia.

The Civil Guard agents gave him a dry shirt and took him to a safe place while waiting for the arrival of the ambulance, which rushed him to the Ribera Hospital, the sources add.
