The charm of the Ría del Eo in Castropol

It is formed at the mouth of the Eo River, it is 10 km long, a practically constant width of 800 meters and 14 square kilometers in area.

We are referring to the Ribadeo or Eo estuary, which leads us to see the town of Castropol in this photograph shared in La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos.

Precisely, in this villa we find the Centro de Interpretación de la Ría del Eo, which is the Asturian entrance gate to the Reserva de la Biosfera Río Eo, Oscos y Terras de Burón.

In this exhibition space, through different supports, "the visitor receives extensive information on the flora and fauna of the Eo estuary, in addition to general notions of the culture, history and economy of the 14 municipalities ( seven Galicians and seven Asturians) that make up the Río Eo, Oscos and Terras de Burón Reserve.

The estuary narrows to 600 meters near the mouth, where a bridge was built to cross it. Further outside it widens to 1200 meters in the Arnao cove. On the Asturian margin it has an inlet of approximately 1 kilometer, known as the Linera cove.

The Suarón River, on the Asturian side, and the Grande River, on the Galician side, also flow into the estuary. Other tributary streams are, on the Galician side, the Rego da Veiga and, on the Asturian side, the Angueira and Fornelos streams, which precisely form the Linera cove.
