The Catalan hotel company Sercotel joins forces with the Daban family to enter Andorra

The Catalan hotel company Sercotel, part of the Landon Corporate Group – the Gallardo family's holding company – has begun its expansion outside of Spain with the incorporation of an establishment in Andorra. This is the Delfos hotel, a four-star, 180-room asset owned by Daguisa, a hotel group owned by the Andorran Daban family.

The alliance has a double objective. On the one hand, reposition the hotel in the new tourist context that Andorra is experiencing. The principality has made a strong commitment to de-seasonalize its offer and is promoting wellness tourism and stays for sports teams, beyond skiing. Taking these parameters into account, Daguisa will invest four million euros to completely renovate Delfos, in addition to incorporating gym and physiotherapy services for sports tourism. On the other hand, it serves as the first stone in Sercotel's Andorran ambition.

“We have been analyzing this market for two years, it is a destination on the rise that last year grew by 22% in visitors and our plans for the coming years involve continuing to incorporate accommodations to increase and consolidate the presence of the chain in Andorra” , says José Rodríguez Pousa, CEO of Sercotel. In addition, the hotel company is studying possible operations in Portugal.

Management by Sercotel will begin in November, with a long-term agreement with the property, which has had the advice of the real estate consultancy Cushman

The Delfos Andorra is the fourth addition to Sercotel's portfolio so far this year, bringing the total to 93 hotels and 7,200 rooms. Likewise, it has some projects under construction. In this way, it advances towards its strategic objective of reaching 100 hotels in direct operation by 2025 and doubling the number of franchised hotels.

The company concluded 2022 with a record turnover of 93.6 million euros. By 2023, it plans to exceed these revenues, with around 115 million euros, 23% more. “It has been a good year and demand shows no signs of declining in the final stretch of the year, on the contrary,” says José Rodríguez Pousa.
