The Catalan Football Federation is being investigated for alleged irregularities in its last elections

This Tuesday morning, the Mossos d'Esquadra carried out an entry and search at the headquarters of the Catalan Football Federation, on Sicilia Street in Barcelona. Sources close to the investigation have detailed to La Vanguardia that the searches, under a court order, would try to gather evidence about alleged irregularities in the entity's last elections.

The aforementioned elections took place on February 13, 2023 and the current president Joan Soteras was re-elected as head of the entity by 57.62% of the votes over the candidates Juanjo Isern (38.37%) and Pep Palacios (1 .37%), according to the official results published on the website.

According to a note from the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC), the action at the FCF headquarters has been agreed by the investigative court 2 of Sabadell in the framework of a case - for the moment under secrecy -, which is investigating, among others, "crimes of falsification of public documents, falsification of private documents and unfair administration."

According to some media outlets, plainclothes agents have prevented workers from entering the property in order to carry out the search work early this Tuesday morning.
