Just before the passing of the storm Aline I captured these images for the Readers' Photos of La Vanguardia of the Cardener Fountains, still very scarce in water, waiting to see if the storm will finally help to alleviate the drought in Catalonia .
The Cardener river rises at an altitude of approximately 1100 meters, in these sources located in a valley between the mountains of Port del Comte (2332 m) and that of the Green (2271 m), in the municipal area of Coma i la Pedra ( Solsonès).
The Fuentes del Cardener are located 1 km from the town of La Coma. To get there it is properly signposted, although it is recommended to leave the car and walk about 300 meters.
Depending on the time of year, you can enjoy its waterfalls and water jets more, for example, during the thaw in spring.
The Cardener will flow into the Llobregat river, at the end of Castellgalí, after 87 km of travel. In its channel are the reservoirs of La Llosa del Cavall and Sant Ponç, which are in great need of water.
