The best platform series that will arrive in the month of April

April arrives full of news, among which two stand out on Netflix: the new adaptation of The Talented Mr Ripley and the recreation of the Asunta case. Veteran film performers will premiere productions for the small screen such as Michael Douglas or Annette Bening while other iconic television actors such as Giancarlo Esposito arrive with new proposals. And in this selection we could not miss one of the latest revelations on British television by Filmin and a long-awaited sequel to The Good Wife with the character of Elsbeth Tascioni.

PARISH AMC (lunes 1)

Giancarlo Esposito (the unforgettable Gustavo Fring from Breaking Bad) produces and stars in this series based on the British production The Driver. The six-episode series follows the life of Gracian Parish, a family man and owner of a luxury car service in New Orleans who after the tragic loss of his son in a violent murder and the collapse of his company, finds himself involved in a dangerous plot when he reunites with an old friend from his days as a driver, which leads him to face a violent criminal syndicate.

DREAMING IN BLACK Filmin (Tuesday 2)

Fresh and sarcastic comedy that follows Kwabena (Jamaican co-creator Adjani Salmon), who works in a precarious recruiting company while dreaming (figuratively and literally: he falls asleep in the office) of becoming a film director. But his full-time job is just one of the many obstacles preventing him from fulfilling his dream: a predominantly white work environment rife with racist “microaggressions,” trouble making ends meet, and love affairs.

RIPLEY Netflix (jueves 4)

Andrew Scott ( Fleabag , Sherlock ) stars in this dramatic miniseries based on the novels by Patricia Highsmith starring Tom Ripley, a cunning conman down on his luck in New York in the early 1960s. His life takes a turn when he is recruited by a millionaire to travel to Italy and persuade his rebellious son to return home. What begins as a simple assignment becomes a dizzying descent into a world of deceit, fraud and murder. Dakota Fanning and Johnny Flynn complete the cast.

BENJAMIN FRANKLIN Apple TV (Viernes 12)

Miniseries starring and produced by Michael Douglas that is based on a book by Stacy Schiff. The series explores the greatest challenge of Benjamin Franklin's career. In 1776 he is known worldwide for his experiments with electricity but his passion and power are tested when, with American independence hanging in the balance, he embarks on a secret mission to France. At age 70, with no diplomatic experience, Franklin convinced an absolute monarchy to support America's experiment in democracy.

APPLES NEVER FALL (AN UNEXPECTED SETSET)

SkyShowtime (martes 23)

Based on the New York Times bestseller by Liane Moriarty, this series follows the story of the Delaneys, a seemingly perfect family. Former tennis coaches Stan (Sam Neill) and Joy (Annette Bening) have sold their successful academy and are ready to leave their jobs behind and begin what should be the golden years of their lives. While they hope to take advantage of retirement to spend more time with their four children, one day, Joy suddenly disappears and her children must rethink their parents' seemingly perfect marriage and the family's darkest secrets begin to come to light.

ELSBETH Movistar Plus (Thursday 25)

Long-awaited sequel to The Good Wife based on the unique character of Elsbeth Tascioni, the unconventional lawyer who also appeared in its sequel The Good Fight and who is played by Carrie Preston. Following her successful legal career in Chicago, Elsbeth will take on a new investigative role in New York and use her unique point of view to work alongside police with her unique observations to round up criminals.

THE ASUNTA CASE netflix (Friday the 26th)

Candela Peña and Tristán Ulloa star in this six-episode miniseries based on one of the real criminal cases that most impacted Spanish society. On September 21, 2013, Rosario Porto and Alfonso Basterra reported the disappearance of their daughter Asunta, whose body was found hours later next to a road on the outskirts of Santiago de Compostela. The police investigation soon revealed evidence that pointed to Rosario and Alfonso as possible perpetrators of the crime.
