The Berlin Philharmonic reveals the "prodigious acoustics" of the Sagrada Família

German critics were already speaking of “prodigious acoustics” when commenting on the rehearsals of the Berliner Filarmonika yesterday inside the Sagrada Família. “Benvinguts a Barcelona” was rehearsed by the presenter of the concert in Catalan, Petra Guten.

Petra Gute will start the ceremony in Catalan with a “gaudiu del concert” and “feliç dia del treball”, for a broadcast that will be followed by more than 200 million viewers all over the planet. The concert will take place on May 1 at 11:00 p.m. in an unusual and unprecedented setting: inside the Sagrada Familia.

The Orfeó Català and the Berlin Philharmonic began a "historic" tour this Thursday. They will also perform on May 3, at the National Auditorium in Madrid. Each concert has a different program, but in all of them the Coronation Mass of W.A. Mozart, under the direction of Kirill Petrenko.

The link between the Palace of Music and the Berlin Philharmonic is longstanding, with numerous visits by the group to Barcelona, but it was not until 2013 that the Berliners -with Simon Halsey as Simon Rattle's right-hand man- will perform for the first time time with the Orfeón.
