The beach of Sa Riera de Begur reopened after the presence of two sharks

The beach of Sa Riera de Begur remains open after being closed for hours due to the presence of two blue sharks about two meters long. The sharks were seen by some bathers during the afternoon of yesterday Wednesday. Immediately, Civil Protection placed the red flag and temporarily prohibited the bathroom. However, after checking the area, the Red Cross rescuers have found no trace of the blue sharks.

Civil Protection has reported that the bathroom is open again. In this way, the red flag will be removed and the green or yellow flag will be hoisted, depending on the swell.

After the warning from the bathers yesterday, the lifeguards did not see anything at first, but, for safety's sake, the red flag was maintained. During this morning, when the service entered the beach, the second inspection was carried out, confirming that the blue sharks have left the area.

This is not the first shark sighting this summer on the beaches of the Costa Brava. This Monday two blue sharks were seen in Port de la Selva and two weeks ago two blue sharks were seen on the beach of Portbou, although no incident was to be regretted beyond the initial fright.
