Baleària has transported nearly 60,000 pets between January and September 2023, 15% more than the previous year. The shipping company has launched a new Pet Week, from September 28 to October 4, coinciding with the celebration of World Animal Day that takes place tomorrow.
Under the claim “If people look like their owners, why wouldn't they travel like them?”, the shipping company has launched a campaign that pays tribute to these animals for a week through commercial promotions, gifts on board to passengers traveling with pets and raffles on social networks for products for the care of these animals.
The number of passengers traveling with their pets increases year after year thanks to continuous improvements in the pet-friendly accommodations and services on Baleària ships.
In this sense, the shipping company has a wide range of accommodations adapted to the experience of the animals and their owners, such as cabins, seats, calm houses, walking areas and pipicán.
One of the increasingly popular options on ferries is precisely the pet-friendly cabins, specially adapted to the needs of pets and in which a special cleaning protocol is available to guarantee maximum hygiene.
On the other hand, the most contracted service is the calm houses, areas specially equipped for the transport of pets with large and safe spaces, and ventilation and special cleaning services. Depending on the ship, you can visit the animals during the voyage or follow their trip via mobile phone thanks to a video surveillance system installed inside the houses that allow you to see your pet at all times.
In addition, there is also an increase in passengers traveling in pet-friendly seats, an accommodation available on some ships that allows animals of a certain limited weight to travel in a carrier on the user's lap or under the seat.
The contracting of these services adapted for pets is mainly concentrated in the Balearic Islands connections, followed by the Strait and Melilla, where it has grown significantly in 2023.
Last year Baleària was recognized as the 'Best Pet Friendly Company 2022' in the awards organized by the pet travel guide TravelGuau.
