The AFE asks the Government for exceptional measures

The Association of Spanish Footballers (AFE) today called for "the adoption of exceptional measures to avoid the misgovernment of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and the continued degradation of the image of Spanish football," it said in a statement.

The union chaired by David Aganzo, successor to Luis Rubiales as head of the football players' union, showed its utmost concern about a situation that it describes as "unsustainable" and that it understands "cannot be prolonged any longer."

In its statement, AFE assures that "all the controls of the federative bodies and the Administration itself have failed." And he adds: "AFE has been denouncing this situation for a long time, which has worsened over time, repeatedly demanding that the Government of Spain urgently adopt forceful measures, something that has not happened. We consider that they have failed. all the controls of the federative bodies, which gives an idea of its caciquil structure," he says.

AFE also expresses the "utmost concern about the possibility that FIFA intervenes in the RFEF and, consequently, Spain is harmed by the alleged irregularities committed by Luis Rubiales and several of his most direct collaborators," it states in its letter.

The union recalled that it is the only sports institution that is present in the Majadahonda court that investigates all the details of the Spanish Super Cup that is being played in Saudi Arabia and other events such as the monitoring by detectives of its president, paid through of a shell company, managed by a criminal lawyer who works for the RFEF.

"The study of these facts insofar as they could be financially harmful to the RFEF are descriptive of an operation conceived between the Federation and Messrs. Cueto and Caravaca, billing services for concepts other than those actually undertaken," he adds.

AFE recalls that David Aganzo resigned on July 12, 2022 to continue being a member of the CSD Board of Directors, after asking this body four times without success to open a disciplinary file for alleged irregularities against the then president of the RFEF, Luis. Rubiales, and that he be removed from his duties on a precautionary basis during the processing of the same.
