Tesla earns a record $11.5 billion in 2022

The manufacturer of luxury electric vehicles Tesla had a net profit of 12,556 million dollars in 2022, about 11,500 million euros at the current exchange rate. It is 168% more than the profits it obtained in 2021, the company reported this Wednesday. The rebound was maintained in the last section of the year, when it earned 3,687 million dollars, about 3,400 million euros, 59% more.

Billing also saw a significant increase, with a rise of 51% to 75,000 million euros. Production grew 47%, with 1,369,611 vehicles manufactured. Deliveries amounted to 1.31 million, 40% more. The figures are somewhat below the self-imposed 50% target. In any case, investors reacted well to the accounts, with shares climbing more than 5% after the market closed.

The company's chief executive, Elon Musk, said that despite price cuts of up to 20% on some vehicles announced earlier this month, demand for Tesla products is strong and sales are limited by production. The company claims vehicle production and delivery problems centered on its operations in China, where it has an assembly plant in Shanghai that has been affected by covid restrictions.

The company "is used to challenges," adds the group. For now, it is "accelerating its cost reduction program and targeting higher production rates."

The company also announced that it plans to invest 3.6 billion dollars in its factory in Nevada, USA, which will allow it to create 3,000 jobs and two production lines: one for batteries and the other for the Semi transport truck.
