TecnoCampus and Eurecat reward the best entrepreneurial initiatives in the textile sector

The TecnoCampus of Mataró and Eurecat have recognized three companies with the Reimagine Textile awards, awards that are granted to the best entrepreneurial initiatives within the textile sector.

The awards were presented during the TEX Day

The event featured the intervention of Jaume Ferrús, vice-president of the Eurecat Technological Center of Catalonia; Sergi Morales, Councilor for Employment and Business of the Mataró City Council; Jordi Marcè, vice president of the Asociación de Centros de Transporte y Logística de España, and David Bote, mayor of Mataró and president of the TecnoCampus foundation.

The four speakers stressed the importance of developing innovations in the textile sector and the need for this industry to adapt to emerging technologies that are shaping the present and future of our society, including artificial intelligence and the metaverse.

“Technological innovation is essential to improve and provide added value to the textile industry, since it allows it to better adapt to new social demands and be more competitive,” said Jaume Ferrús, vice president of the Technological Center of Catalonia.

The Reimagine Textile awards, presented by TecnoCampus in collaboration with Eurecat, the Barcelona Provincial Council, Neural Fashion by Raona, Farside and Bobo Choses, are divided into three categories: digital model, sustainability and functional fabric.

The award for innovation within the digital field was awarded to the company Flashion, whose proposal is a platform in which design, marketing and production optimization tools are integrated, all of them driven through Artificial Intelligence.

The award for sustainability and circular economy went to Infinite Athletic, a sportswear brand that is dedicated to making its pieces using its own polymer that is extracted through used tennis racket strings.

Finally, the company Techo Textile Domains was recognized with the award for functional fabric. Its proposal is an intelligent and functional fabric capable of geolocating personnel working in risk environments to facilitate correct evacuation and guarantee a more efficient rescue.

The first of the conferences, presented by Asier Arranz and Xavier Mitjana, experts and disseminators of generative AI, dealt with the contributions that this technology could make to the value chain of the textile sector.

The main contribution that both speakers highlighted was the possibility of recreating real people through artificial intelligence, allowing designers to see how their designs would look without having to invest resources in manufacturing and modeling.

The second of the presentations was the presentation of the company Neural Fashion by Raona, a business case that is already applying AI in the field of fashion, specifically in the field of marketing campaigns for its clothing items.

The company's proposal is to generate advertising images using artificial intelligence in which models appear wearing the item of clothing using only photographs of the item of clothing.

“Artificial intelligence is a disruptive tool that can generate many possibilities for companies and the textile sector, but people must be taken into account, since they are the center of every business and technological project,” concluded David Bote, mayor. from Mataró and president of the TecnoCampus Foundation.
