'Sylphes' stunts kick off the Village Summers

The 39th edition of the Veranos de la Villa, which will be held until August 27 with more than 75 cultural activities, kicked off this Wednesday night with the acrobatics of Sylphes, from the Aerial Strada company and with the music of the Symphony Orchestra Verum, a show that brought together 20,000 spectators on the Puente del Rey, the Madrid City Council has reported in a statement.

Coinciding with this start of the summer programme, the delegate for Culture, Tourism and Sports, Marta Rivera de la Cruz, who attended the inauguration, invited Madrid residents and visitors to "enjoy the varied and wide range of cultural activities and take advantage of Madrid summer to immerse yourself in the cultural life of a great world capital", with attractive plans for all audiences.

The eight acrobats of the Aerial Strada company, at more than 35 meters high, carried out a spectacular aerial dance combined with acrobatics and movement typical of synchronized swimming. They will repeat tonight at 10:30 p.m.

Veranos de la Villa kicks off with two exhibitions, both at the Serrería Belga Cultural Space. In Your Face: Chicano Art after C.A.R.A is the continuation of Chicano Art: Resistance and Affirmation (C.A.R.A), the historic exhibition organized in Los Angeles in 1990. Carried out in collaboration with the Embassy of Mexico in Spain and with AltaMed, it can be seen starting today until August 27.

Seasonal Proximities, within the framework of the 50th anniversary of the start of international relations between China and Spain, will also be at Serrería Belga from July 11 to August 6. It is organized by the Cultural Center of China in Madrid and by the Shenzhen Municipal Office of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports. It has the collaboration of Casa Asia and the sponsorship of Lottusse.

On Saturday, July 8 at 10:30 p.m., the first of the four Un Madrid de cine: Almodóvar tours begins, which start at the Espacio Cultural Serrería Belga and will tour the city through spaces linked to the director's career.

In collaboration with the Madrid Film Office, you will be able to enjoy the places where some of the most iconic scenes of Spanish cinema have been filmed.

During July and August you can see more than 75 cultural activities that also include circus, dance, music or flamenco, among others, and that over 53 days will allow the public to enjoy more than 200 artistic events. More than 50% of them will be free to access and the festival's presence will extend to a dozen districts.
