Sunset reflections on the Pont de la Barca

I have captured for Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia this series of photographs of the February sunsets, with the reflections in the River Ter, from the Pont de la Barca, a work of Girona included in the inventory of the Architectural Heritage of Catalonia.

This bridge has been located in a crossing point since very ancient times. In fact, a service had previously operated with a boat to cross the river.

In 1902, construction began on the first section of the road from Girona to Les Planes and the Pont de la Barca. It was built by La Maquinista Terrestre y Marítima of Barcelona.

In 1965, another bridge was built about 100 meters further down, which made it possible to considerably relieve traffic on this iron bridge.

The Pont de la Barca is an iron bridge with a main structure made up of three continuous sections of beams. It has a width of 6.47 meters. The railings are decorated mesh.

The pavement of the bridge is 7 meters above the bed of the Ter River, where we can see the evening light reflected.
