Sánchez urges Podemos to propose its alternative to correct the law of 'only yes is yes' instead of generating "noise"

Pedro Sánchez considers that it would be interesting to know what proposal Unidas Podemos is handling, to correct the law of only yes is yes, “beyond noise”. This is how the President of the Government has summoned his coalition partner to propose an alternative to the socialist proposal to try to avoid the unwanted effects of the application of the sexual freedom law, after more than 500 sexual offenders have benefited from a reduction in their sentences. For now, "there is only one proposal on the table", warned the head of the Executive, referring to the proposed law registered alone by the PSOE, during an informal conversation with the journalists who accompanied him on the tour that he has started this Thursday in Vienna.

Given the great social alarm caused by the reduction in sentences for sexual offenders, and above all to preserve the protection of the victims, Sánchez has been convinced that the socialist proposal will come to fruition: "We will move it forward, one way or another. other". Although without being sure that a consensus can be reached with United We Can during the parliamentary process of the initiative: "If an agreement is not reached, the PSOE has its position", he has reaffirmed. The President of the Government, however, prefers not to anticipate events before a parliamentary process that is beginning to take its first steps. Esquerra and EH Bildu do not contemplate joining the PSOE proposal without the agreement with Unidas Podemos, but Sánchez has highlighted that the PNV and PDECat have already shown themselves to be in favor of the socialist reform.

Faced with criticism from United We Can that the PSOE does not want to return to the negotiating table to resolve this dispute, the head of the Executive has assured that in recent weeks the talks have been intense within the government coalition between all the parties, with the ministers Irene Montero and Pilar Llop, and also with the vice president Yolanda Díaz. And he has once again stressed that the coalition is not at risk of breaking, neither by the PSOE nor by United We Can, despite this internal clash. "These are moments that are surpassed," he assured. It is certainly not the first internal struggle in the coalition, nor will it probably be the last.

Sánchez has insisted that the PSOE and Unidas Podemos are different parties, and that they also have different ways of doing politics. In his opinion, in any case, the purple formation would be wielding a position of strength and resistance to a reform of what they consider their star law, also seeking to gain "visibility" in the face of the imminent electoral processes.

The President of the Government, on the other hand, has referred to the balances that the leader of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, is making to establish a position on the abortion law of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, which more than ten years later ends to be endorsed by the Constitutional Court, already with a progressive majority. Sánchez considers that Feijóo is forced to do "dialectical juggling" so as not to hurt sensibilities or anger the toughest sector of the PP, despite the harsh offensive deployed by the extreme right of Vox.

Sánchez, for the rest, is still in no hurry to address the expected government crisis to replace the ministers Reyes Maroto and Carolina Darias, who will run as PSOE candidates for the mayoralties of Madrid and Las Palmas, respectively, in the municipal elections of next May 28. The head of the Executive has reiterated his forecast of undertaking these replacements as early as March, before the planned meeting of the federal committee of the PSOE, and has affirmed that it will be a "specific crisis", which invites us to rule out a more profound remodeling of the Government before the final stretch of the legislature. Sánchez has also hinted that he has already considered who will be the replacements for these two ministers, although it has not yet been decided. In any case, he has ensured that the PSOE has many good cadres to choose future ministers.
