Sánchez refuses to meet with Feijóo until the King designates a candidate for the investiture

Pedro Sánchez has not taken long to respond to the offer made this morning by Alberto Núñez Feijóo and has done so by deactivating the envelope proposed by the leader of the Popular Party so that the President of the Government facilitated his investiture "at such a relevant moment for Spain". .

In a text riddled with reminders of the PP's contradictions, Sánchez began his response by thanking him for the opportunity given to "resume communication between our political forces, abruptly and unilaterally interrupted with the rupture of the preliminary agreement for the renewal of the General Council of Power Judiciary, a constitutional body of special relevance in our institutional system, which has been pending for more than four years".

And responding to Feijóo's request that the PSOE facilitate the investiture of the candidate from the most voted list, the Prime Minister has appealed to article 99 of the Constitution to remind him that the democratic system "has clear rules for the configuration of the Government of the nation. These rules conform to the principles of parliamentary democracy that establishes in the sphere of the Congress of Deputies the space in which the majorities that allow the investiture of the candidate who obtains the necessary support must be articulated".

Sánchez does not skimp when it comes to recalling the contradictions of the PP, especially after the municipal and regional elections on May 28: "I am sure that you understand and share this basic principle of parliamentary democracy, because it has been applied historically by your party, systematically in all latitudes of Spain, each time it has allowed it to reach the presidency of regional governments and mayoralties despite not being the force with the most votes, nor the one with the largest number of seats".

"As if that were not enough", Sánchez added, "in recent times, the principle of the parliamentary majority has once again been applied in the constitution of different autonomous governments in which the Popular Party and VOX have joined forces and votes according to the criteria of the arithmetic sum of the number of seats in the autonomous parliaments".

And, finally, the socialist has made the popular ugly that those right-wing governments made up of PP and Vox Governments are "adopting measures that imply disturbing setbacks in matters as important as social dialogue, equality, diversity or the environment" .

Finally, Sánchez has delayed any meeting between the two to the middle of the month once the candidate proposed by the Head of State has been designated after the formal constitution of the Congress of Deputies, on August 17.
