'Shopping' with an artisanal spirit

In 1895, Joan Barbany opened a store in Granollers with a knitting workshop in the basement of her house. Five generations later, his great-great-grandchildren are still making sweaters. In 2016 they founded the Iaios brand to make lifelong, timeless, resistant and practical models. But with the added bonus that they are made in local towns and woven with 100% recycled yarn, from leftovers from textile factories. This family project also seeks to honor old age, the passage of time and experience. That is why each garment bears the name of a grandmother or grandfather and is accompanied by their biography. Once a year, the firm offers to repair old sweaters – changing the collar, removing pilling, washing and ironing – and recycles the material from the discarded ones.
