Shakira's confessions before the judge: "I wasn't going to the Bahamas to appease Gerard's jealousy"

Shakira has taken a radical turn in her life since her difficult break with Gerard Piqué last year. However, she still has to face something much worse: the trial with the Treasury, where she is asked for more than 8 years in prison and almost 24 million euros for six alleged crimes against the Tax Agency. The singer is very sure of her innocence and this can be verified in her judicial statement, to which El País has had access.

The Colombian appeared before the judge for a total of 80 minutes and tried to convince her that it was not until 2015 that she established her residence in Barcelona. Dressed in a white shirt and black pants, Shakira alluded to Piqué several times, giving details that she had not given until then and that would not leave the footballer quite right.

The Prosecutor's Office ensures that the singer was already regularly in Spain between 2011 and 2014, without complying with her tax obligations. Something that Shakira tries to show that it is not real in order to avoid any type of problem. She “She was a nomad, a person without roots or stability. It is one of the highest prices I have had to pay for my career, ”she assured in her statement, as published by the aforementioned medium.

To try to prove her statement, the Colombian detailed all the countries where she did have ties. Here she has special importance in the Bahamas, where she bought a house with her then partner, Antonio de la Rúa.

At the beginning of her relationship with Piqué, the Colombian had to stop going to the archipelago so as not to have problems with the footballer. "It was a situation that Gerard did not like at all," she assured the judge before her, adding that she did it to "appease Gerard's jealousy a bit."

Of course, Shakira did not want to leave all the responsibility to the father of her children and assured that the jealousy "was natural", since "it was a very incipient relationship" and "there was a lot of insecurity on both sides". She also wanted to make it clear that her wounds with her previous partner were still open, which made things more complicated with the soccer player.

According to El País, the relationship between the singer and the founder of the Kings League was very staggered, due to the professional careers that each one had. Shakira did not hesitate to explain one of the moments that she cherishes most, which occurred during a flight from Marrakech to Croatia.

"We were flying over Barcelona and I asked the pilot of the plane if I could land briefly just to give Gerard a kiss," said the Colombian, along with a remarkable smile. Something that she classifies as "the most romantic thing" that she has done in her life.

Shakira did not hesitate to recount the beginning of her relationship with Gerard Piqué to prove her innocence. She assured that in 2011, when they started dating, they hardly saw each other, since Piqué was 23 years old and being "a footballer, handsome, with a reputation as a playboy... he was crazy at that time." She also stated that she never thought they would end up having a family. "I never imagined that I was going to live in this country for that boy with a beard who was incredible," she said, according to the aforementioned medium.

It seems that, despite everything that happened, Shakira has good words for the father of her children, whom she classifies as a "great guy". But if something is clear, it is that she has not committed any irregularity and that she came to Barcelona for love. "Honestly, your honor, I don't know anyone who is in criminal proceedings for having a boyfriend," she told the judge. She has yet to see how this process will end, but what is certain is that Shakira will fight until the end.
