See the Brocken Wraith Fog Arch

In the Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia we can admire the arc of fog with the specter of Brocken that was seen today in the Santuari dels Munts, Sant Agustí de Lluçanès, Osona region.

The Munts massif is an excellent 360º viewpoint. The fog was in this area elevated to 1057 meters above sea level. Typically, this weather phenomenon is found below.

The light wind moved the fog and when it partially dissipated, with the sun behind me I was able to capture this optical effect of the Brocken spectrum.

The Brocken spectrum has the colors of the rainbow but inverted, while the fog arc is white or with very weak colors and can form, as on this occasion, around the spectrum.

The reason why it is called the Brocken spectrum is found in Germany, where, as occurs in the Catalan region of Osona, frequent fogs occur on the Brocken, a peak of the Harz Mountains.

The Brocken specter was observed and described by Johann Silberschlag in 1780. And, since then, it has often been recorded in German literature when talking about, for example, the devil and witches.
