Sau gains flow and begins to submerge the mill

It is not that the Sau reservoir has gained a lot of water with the latest rains, but it has gained enough to be noticeable after increasing two points (it is now at 3.03% of its capacity) since the last rainfall last weekend.

And this can be seen in the rise in the water level around the old flour mill and the mill of Sant Romà de Sau, which begins to submerge again in the waters of the reservoir, as seen in The Readers' Photos of La Vanguardia .

The reservoir, inaugurated in 1962, covered the town of Sant Romà de Sau, the remains of which, especially the church bell tower, are visible when the level of the dammed water is low.

This reservoir is part of a system of three swamps (along with those of Susqueda and Pasteral) that unites the counties of Osona, in the province of Barcelona, and La Selva, in the province of Girona.

The origins of Sant Romà de Sau take us back to the 10th century. At that time, although it was a small town, it had a few farmhouses, a few houses, a mill, a Romanesque church, its cemetery... Since the end of the 14th century It had a bridge, with five arches, which was the most notable of those that crossed the River Ter.

In recent days, one of the great tourist attractions in the Sau reservoir has been seeing this Gothic bridge appear for the first time since 1962, but, with the latest rains, the water returns to take its place, submerging the remains.
