Santa Coloma de Gramenet (Barcelonès Nord) will have a family, solidarity, inclusive and civic Christmas this year with a good number of activities so that citizens can enjoy the magic of these dates. Illusion, culture and traditions will fill squares and streets.
The mayor, Núria Parlon, presented this Wednesday the Christmas program at the Sagarra Theatre, which begins with the lighting of the lights on Friday, December 1, in the Plaza del Reloj in the Fondo neighborhood (8:00 p.m.) with the show from Klaus that will even make it snow. In the Plaza de la Vila, one hour before (7:00 p.m.) with the presence of Fada Missatgera.
This year the City Council has increased the light points to 469 so that they reach more places in the city, with almost a million bulbs that use LED technology to promote savings. "It is a Christmas very designed to be enjoyed with the family and aimed at strengthening the commercial sector because it is very important to promote Christmas shopping in the city," said Núria Parlon.
"As for Christmas lights, we put up more and more." They listen to the demands of the neighborhoods, who want to have their streets and squares illuminated. That is why, little by little, year after year, the City Council installs more Christmas lights, explained the mayor.
With the aim of supporting families in vulnerable situations, actions will be carried out such as: Solidarity Night, on December 21, 22 and 23, to collect toys at different nightlife establishments; the 7th edition of “A letter, a smile” which will also send the toy or gift they want to the largest possible number of minors at risk of social exclusion; and the III Papanoelada Motera, organized by Bikers Solidaris de Santako, on December 16. In this campaign, food and toy collections are also scheduled at various cultural events at the Sagarra Theater, and sports events in the Christmas program.
The Fondo neighborhood will become one of the high points of the Christmas celebration in Santa Coloma with different recreational activities that will invite you to come closer to the neighborhood. There will be family activities in the Clock Square, such as the installation of the Toy Factory with its photocall, a skating rink and the show “Get to know Klaus' workshop”. The traditional Christmas Market moves to the Nueva Plaza Fondo, in front of the municipal market. Regarding the promotion of the neighborhood's commerce, the background music and decorative elements will be reinforced in the commercial areas, such as Massanet street and pl. of the Clock.
The city's shops and markets participate in Christmas with revitalization activities to promote purchases in local businesses. Every Friday, from December 15 to January 5, the three municipal markets will take out their stalls on the street where Christmas activities will be programmed. In addition, the windows of commercial establishments around the markets will be decorated in a special way. As a novelty, there will be a watch market (Mercado Sagarra, December 2) for collectors and an exhibition of classic cars (Mercado Singuerlín, December 30).
The city's feminist facility, La Ciba, has designed a special Christmas program that will allow, among other things, to take a photo with Mafalda and Manolito, enjoy a hot chocolate on the 22nd, and access various co-educational activities such as games, story-telling, face painting and children's shows with active babysitting service during all school holidays.
