Rubí's victim denounced up to three sexual assaults by the same perpetrators

The completely demolished old site only conserves three small rooms with some walls and an old uralite roof. The interior is rotten. Several bonfires have destroyed what little was left, there is garbage, offensive graffiti and an old dilapidated sofa that is supposed to have been the scene of the alleged group attack that a woman denounced at the end of last year. It happened in Ruby. In an industrial estate on the outskirts of this town in Barcelona where on Thursday, the head of court 7 sent to prison without bail five men, between the ages of 20 and 27, Moroccan nationals and residents of Terrassa, accused of having participated in sexual assault. And not just once, but several times, three at least, as the victim told the investigators of the Central Unit for Sexual Assaults (UCAS), who discreetly handled the matter.

An especially complex investigation given the extreme vulnerability of the victim, a woman with a diagnosed intellectual disability who for a while could not and did not know how to denounce the ordeal she was suffering.

Finally, after the last of the alleged sexual assaults in that terrible scenario, on December 27, the woman took the step of going to the Mossos d'Esquadra de Rubí. At the police station they quickly understood that it was a complex case with a victim that required specialized and continuous treatment and the case was taken over by the UCAS mosses. Supervised by the judge of 7 Rubí, an investigation began whose results were known last Thursday, when the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia reported that the five detainees had been imprisoned without bail a few hours before. Some arrested who admitted to sexual relations that they claimed were always consensual.

The version of the victim and to which the mosses, the judge and the prosecutor gave absolute credibility is that one of the detainees was known to the woman. A relationship that on specific occasions also admitted intimate relationships. The detainee was aware of the extreme weakness and vulnerability of the woman, sources familiar with the investigation explained to La Vanguardia. And on at least three occasions he convinced the woman to date her, alone, to later call a few friends whom he invited to have sex with the young woman.

Some relationships without her consent, as she declared to the police and later confirmed to the judge. The magistrate also had other elements, beyond the victim's statement, which further strengthened her story. In the words of the judge, that story was "coherent" from the outset, the magistrate stressed in his order.

From the identification of the man who allegedly acted as bait, the investigators were identifying and locating the rest of the aggressors. Up to five who were identified by the woman without any doubt. In her statements, the victim made reference to more perpetrators of the different attacks, but they have not yet been able to be identified. Hence, the investigation remains open.

The magistrate understood that there was a high risk of flight, in addition to the seriousness of the crimes of which they are accused.

All five suspects have prior records, mainly for property-related crimes, although at least one of them also has a record for sexual offences.

The victim told the investigators the hell in which he was living. She was afraid of the man who acted as her liaison and she detailed how in the different group attacks she was driven by force and violence, despite her pleas and repeated refusals.
