Rodolfo Sancho reunites with his son, Daniel Sancho, in his key week

Daniel Sancho is in his key week after almost 80 days in Koh Samui prison waiting for the judge to hand down his sentence. The accused confessed to having murdered and dismembered the Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta in Thailand. Since then, the case has gone around the world and has grabbed numerous headlines.

His father, Rodolfo Sancho, traveled to the Asian country in September to collect all the necessary information and visit his son. Now, a month and a half later, the actor has returned to the place to be near the cook and to face these last days before the judge receives the final report of the case.

Rodolfo Sancho has spent more than two hours talking to his son, since he had not been to his prison for almost two months. However, this time he has come to the place in a very different way from the first. Away from the press, with a car with tinted windows and with his legal advisor in Thailand, the actor has crossed the door to enter and leave prison without offering statements.

This decision could be due to the problems caused by the first words he said the first time. Although she did not hesitate to offer her condolences to the victim's family, she could not avoid sowing controversy. "They think I'm down on the ground, that's not me. There are two ways to take things in life, either as a misfortune or as a challenge. They're not going to get tears," she said.

Some statements that did not sit well with Edwin Arrieta's entourage and for which he had to apologize the next day. Since then, he has not wanted to speak again, among other things, for the sake of his son. And Daniel Sancho faces his decisive week: the final stretch of the investigation.

As EFE has learned, the Samui Prosecutor's Office delivered the report to the court this Wednesday, and it will be Thursday when Sancho must appear before the judge. The Prosecutor maintains the charges of premeditated murder and concealment of the body, respecting what was established by the police.

So far, the accused does not have a Thai lawyer, something essential in the Asian country, so it is likely that he will have to resort to one ex officio. "At the moment, neither the defense nor the prosecution, nor Edwin Arrieta's family, have a lawyer in Thailand," said the reporter who moved to the Asian country from the Let's See program.

Although it is tomorrow when Sancho must go to court, the legal representatives in Spain still do not have official confirmation, according to the journalist. "We understand that this is one of the consequences of not having a lawyer in Thailand," she added.
