Repsol employees in Tarragona claim that their rights are violated in drug controls

About thirty subcontracted workers from Repsol Petróleo in Tarragona gathered this Thursday at the doors of the industrial complex to denounce that their rights are being violated in alcohol and drug controls.

Although these tests have been carried out for years, CCOO has warned that "recently they have been carried out in an uncontrolled, discriminatory manner and without respecting confidentiality."

"There is no type of protocol," they have pointed out from the union, which defends that the objective of the concentration "is not to stop carrying out the controls, but to do them well." In fact, this has been the main demand that has been conveyed to the company at the negotiation table convened this Thursday.

The general secretary of the CCOO of Industry of Tarragona, Pedro Carmona, has denounced that the way the controls are carried out "everyone knows who they did it to and what result they obtained."

"They are medical data and, therefore, they must be confidential," Carmona denounced. The union has also stated that none of the subcontracted companies has provided them with information about whether the person carrying out the controls is qualified to do so and what protocols to follow.

Carmona has asked the company to inform them if it suspects "that there is a problem." "If so, we will look for a solution, but without violating the rights of the staff and in accordance with the law," he stated.
