The old Sabadell Rambla station of the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC), converted into a training center for railway personnel and security forces, hosted this Thursday a day of practice for the canine unit of the Mossos de Catalunya. 'Esquadra in which Civil Guard agents have also participated.

About twenty dogs have taken part in a drill searching for drugs, explosives, weapons and counterfeit bills throughout the station and in train carriages.

"It is very difficult to find facilities as good as these where you can simulate real situations without interference," said Òscar Leonardo Garcia, head of the Mossos canine unit.

Carles Cots, head of FGC Stations, has highlighted that the Espai Sabadell Rambla has become a "reference space" for internships both for the Railways of the Generalitat de Catalunya staff and for those of different security forces and of emergency.

Cots has detailed that more than 700 professionals from the railway operator have carried out exercises at the old station and that since 2022 more than 300 police officers and emergency services personnel have also passed through.

"We have given a second life to a space that would have been disused and that has now become a reference because it is a real and safe environment in which to work without interference," added Cots.
