Stormy Daniels, the pornographic film star at the center of the criminal case against Donald Trump, said she doesn't think the former president should go to prison if convicted of concealing secret money payments he made to her.

"I don't think his crimes against me are jail-worthy. I feel like the other things he's done, if he's found guilty, are," Daniels, 44, said in an interview with Piers Morgan on Fox Nation.

Trump was charged Tuesday in New York with 34 felony falsifying business records on allegations that he orchestrated hush money payments to Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal ahead of the 2016 US presidential election to prevent the publication of her alleged sexual encounters with him.

Trump, 76, also faces criminal investigations in Washington for trying to overturn his 2020 election loss and mishandling of classified documents, and a separate criminal investigation in Georgia over his attempt to overturn his defeat in that state.

Manhattan prosecutors accused Trump, the first US president or former president to face criminal charges, of trying to cover up an election law violation during his 2016 campaign.

Trump, the frontrunner in the 2024 Republican nomination race, denies having an affair with Daniels but has acknowledged the payment.

The next hearing in the case is scheduled for December 4. Legal experts said a trial may not start for another year, and that impeachment or even a conviction would not legally bar Trump from running for president.

Daniels told Morgan that if the case goes to trial, he would like to testify. "I have nothing to hide. I'm the only one who's been telling the truth," she said.
