Podemos sees its decomposition worsened when it is surpassed by Pacma

The electoral count has brought Podemos a big hit in its locker, which, however, does not seem to lead to any internal crisis.

After disengaging from Sumar with a divorce that was toxic for both parties, the purple party assured that it would appear in the Galician elections with the intention of “moving forward in an implementation process” that it paused last summer due to the general elections. But not even the meritorious role played by its candidate, Isabel Faraldo, has managed to lift the flight of a formation that, with the permission of the Basque elections, has trusted its future to what happens in the European elections.

This was decided by its founder, Pablo Iglesias, and by extension the militancy when, following the former's theses, he decided at the end of December to disrupt the pact that the Galician leaders of Sumar and Podemos had signed to try to concentrate the vote to the left of the PSOE. .

From there, those of Ione Belarra undertook an erratic campaign in which, beyond the increase in taxes on the rich – personalized by the owner of Inditex, Amancio Ortega –, they failed to place messages that mobilized a left-wing electorate. seduced by the vote useful to the BNG.

The bad result was so evident that both the Galician and national leaderships lowered their arms in recent days, admitting that the “main thing” was for the Galicians to decide at the polls a political change that has not come either.

The disastrous result of Podemos in Galicia adds to that achieved in the country as a whole in the regional elections in May and which, in the end, led to the now defunct alliance with Sumar. In that sense, Faraldo sent a message to his people. “Without a strong Podemos there is no change,” he noted as a summary of the internal battles that are destroying a party that yesterday, in Galicia, was left behind Pacma in some constituencies.
