The reign of Chris Evans, the actor who plays Captain America in The Avengers, as the world's sexiest man alive has come to an end. The new handsome man who will carry that title awarded by People magazine for this 2023 is another actor, Patrick Dempsey, known above all for having played neurosurgeon Derek Shepherd, the hunky doctor, in the series Grey's Anatomy.
The appointment was announced on Tuesday night on the Jimmy Kimmel Live! program, where the 57-year-old actor had attended. His reaction upon hearing that he had been selected as the sexiest man alive for 2023 was: "This is a joke, right? I've always been the bridesmaid!" The actor was referring to the fact that in previous editions he had been a finalist but had never obtained the title. Dempsey added: "I had completely forgotten about it and never contemplated being in this position. So my ego is fine."

"I'm glad it's happening at this time in my life," he announced. "It's nice to have the recognition, and certainly my ego gets a little boost, but it gives me the platform to use it for something positive."
